Didactic and experiential learning techniques are used - a balanced mix, including lectures, lecturette, case studies, critical incidents, scenes and exercises. The trainees become aware of their own cultural conditioning and of the contrasting host-country culture.

Cross cultural differences are clarified and reconciled with local norms, leading to an enrichment of the expatriate repertoire of social skills. Trainees will be able to function more efficiently in the new social environment without threatening their own cultural roots. Learning of new behaviours, better suited to the host culture will not only reduce uncertainty and stress, but also result in social acceptance and increased interpersonal effectiveness in both business and social environments.
